The seeds of ASAMI India were sown during the 1983–84 academic year. What began as a small academic initiative grew into an organisation that today unites over a thousand orthopaedic surgeons across 28 states of India, all dedicated to the revolutionary Ilizarov methodology.

Three Decades of Academic Excellence
ASAMI India was formally established in 1992 as the official Indian country chapter of ASAMI International. Its roots, however, trace back to the academic year of 1983–84, when pioneering Indian orthopaedic surgeons first began exploring the revolutionary Ilizarov circular external fixator technique and its applications in deformity correction and limb reconstruction.
